Though technically sponsored by Art for Cures, an artist’s collective I started in 2007 for charity, all of the baked goods for this event are being donated by Word Whimsy members including myself!

If you haven’t been to Scrambles Cafe yet, you need to try them. We go once a week for our day out and love it. The people are really nice and the food is outstanding (and well priced, good portions). <u>They close at 2pm</u> so make sure you get there early enough to have lunch AND hit our table for dessert! Try their “Spudfest”, really yummy. :) When I asked if we could set up a table out front, there was no hesitation in saying yes. I am grateful for their support and they are not benefiting from the sale at all other than traffic. And half the staff has already said they were buying sweets from us. LOL

A HUGE thank you to our Laurel, Karen, and Val for committing helping me create all sorts of muffins, cookies, scones, pizzelles, and goodies later this week to raise money for Cookies for Kid’s Cancer. You guys ROCK and I will be buying samples! LOL

Another HUGE thank you to our Eve, who does the radio shopping show for WOCA here locally, for blasting the air waves with a PSA for the event. HUGS The event is also listed online with Star Banner, Ocala4Sale, and Craigslist, as well as Facebook, MySpace, Eventful and Twitter.

FYI, if you are coming for lunch, you might be able to get discounted coupons for Scrambles by calling WOCA at (352) 732-8000.

We are doing this the day before Valentine’s Day in the hopes that people will be looking for last minute gift items for loved ones. My eight-year old daughter and I are making greeting cards, pins, and other goodies for the event as well as accepting donations from other area creatives.

100% of the proceeds of the baked goods will go to Cookies for Kid’s Cancer.
100% of the shoes and shoe-related donations will go to Soles4Souls.
100% of the proceeds of the gift items will go to Art for Cures.

We will be accepting checks with ID made out to Ana Maria Seaton (me) as a convenience for people wanting to buy multiple items. I will be keeping a full inventory of everything, sheets made out ahead of time in order to track all of it with a simple check number, to expedite things. I am hoping that we will be so busy that we sell out before the four hours are up!

Anything donated for the sale would need to be in my hands by this Thursday, the 11th. All proceeds from any donated books* would go to Word Whimsy to fund things like ISBNs for our publishing house, printing costs on the Anthology (we have a printer) and free copies of the Anthology for contributors, as well as website related expenses, etc.

Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is committed to raising funds to support research for new and improved therapies for pediatric cancer. Through the concept of local bake sales, Cookies for Kids’ Cancer will provide the inspiration and support for people like you to help children win their fight against cancer.

Soles 4 Souls
Soles4Souls is a Nashville-based charity that collects shoes from the warehouses of footwear companies and the closets of people like you. The charity distributes these shoes free of charge to people in need, regardless of race, religion, class, or any other criteria. Since 2005, Soles4Souls has given away over 5.5 million pairs of new and gently worn shoes (currently donating one pair every 9 seconds.) The shoes have been distributed to people in over 125 countries, including Kenya, Thailand, Nepal and the United States.
